Not many communities have their own youth center.Ours does.
Since 1945, from Boy Scouts to bar mitzvah classes, from sock hops to sewing classes, the MarshallP.RiddickYouthCenter has been the place. And it still is. The RiddickCenter can host assemblies up to 75 people.(See Gallery.) With two meeting rooms, a kitchen, bathroom and playground, the RiddickCenter can be your house away from home.
Owned and operated by the Marshall P. Riddick Youth Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization, the RiddickCenter provides a meeting place for our community, especially the children in the OverlandAvenueElementary School community. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Brownies all use the Center. So do the Cheviot Hills Homeowners Association and the Westside Neighborhood Council which also contribute to its upkeep, along with providing representatives on the RiddickCenter’s volunteer board of directors.
Support for the RiddickCenter comes from rental income and donations from individuals, community organizations, and local businesses. An approved charity of the United Way, payroll deductions can be directed to the RiddickCenter.
The RiddickCenter is located at 2634 Overland Avenue, Los Angeles, California90064-3201, on the northeast corner of Overland and Ashby Avenues, and across the street from OverlandAvenueElementary School.
